What setting on a digitial multimeter should i use to test a capacitor?
What setting on a 7 function multimeter would i use to test a 40 microfarad capacitor? I have the following functions: DC Volts. AC Volts. Battery test. DC Amps. 10A. hFE. Diode. Ohmmeter.
Your meter is not capable of testing a capacitor properly.
There are meters that have a capacitor test function, and a good one tests for charge and leakage.
However you can test to see if your capacitor is shorted by using a meter with the ohmic test function. The value wil rise or fall until it is at zero or infinite or a high ohmic value. This is a quick and dirty test and shows no leak value.
