explain why dc output voltage and ripple frequency of a bridge rectifier drop in half when any diode opens?
Voltage doesn't necessarily drop in half but ripple frequency does.
Because the bad diode changes the circuit from full wave rectification where the output frequency is twice the line frequency to half wave rectification at the line frequency.
If there is no capacitor filter, the output voltage will drop in half, as there is a half wave cycle only half the time. A capacitor filter will help the DC voltage stay closer to the peak voltage which is the same in both cases.
