can anyone help a non computer literate person?
i've just bought a new laptop and installed a pc card which is working fine.
i also bought a second hand wireless router which came with a power lead and a ribbon like cable with telephone connections on either end (too big to connect to modem or phone line).
its a netgear wpn824.
not sure what plugs in where?
do i plug the modem into 'LAN 1' hole and phone line into 'internet' hole?
it didnt come with a installation disk, do i have to install it, if so what do i install it into? laptop?
have i got everything i need to connect to wireless internet? i have router, pc card for laptop, broadband connection.
sorry for being such a computer dummy, i really haven't got a clue.

first off a phone jack is the smaller one with 4 contacts inside called an RJ11, the larger looking phone jack is an RJ45 used for ethernet (networking)
So you have the wireless router, but do you have a broadband internet connection such as DSL or Cable? if so then you would connect the wireless router to the DSL or Cable modem using the RJ45 (larger ethernet cable) then if your laptop's wifi is enabled it should pick it up. Click on the wireless icon in the system tray by the clock and search for available wireless connections and it should find the netgear router, then click connect, if it asks for a key, look on the bottom of the router.
Also if the router is second hand, i would reset the router back to factory defaults. there should be a pinhole size reset button on the back or bottom to do this
