How do I use the Manual Shift on my 91 Ford Probe?
I have a 1991 Ford Probe and lately it seems like my transmission is starting to slip or is not willing to shift and I have to feather the throttle. Transmission problems in an 18 year old car with over 169,000 miles is not unexpected, but I thought that perhaps using the Manual Shift feature would be a bit easier on my poor car. Thing is, I bought it used and without an owner's manual. So how do I use the Man shift? I've done enough looking around to know its purpose, just not sure how to use it.

it goes into gear with no real issues. its an automatic and it shifts kinda hard into second and sometimes it sounds like its in too low of a gear and i have to feather the throttle and then it'll go into the next gear.
It has a manual shift option though. there is a button on the gear shift that turns on manual shift, which allows you to control shifting into the first three gears. I just need to know how to use it.

I am not sure what you are asking, but if it pops out of gear, it basically sounds like the transmission needs replaced or rebuilt. does it shift into gear ok, or do you have to shove it in gear?
