I am looking for complete information on Surface Mount Technology (SMT). I am an engineer and need a reliable source of information on SMT and Surface Mounting including Surface Mounting Process and Technology, SMT Equipments, SMD Components and all other relevant information. I will be glad if someone can let me know the best and reliable source of information on Surface Mount Technology (SMT).

The main things to keep in mind when doing circuit layouts with SMT is that the components will be mounted and connecting on both sides of the board, and current paths can be tightly controlled. This not only permits component design which reduces space and thermal considerations, but also permits reducing cross-coupling between components, and EMI in general.

I started to compile a list of sources, on-line and text, but decided against this as being redundant, and probably not useful to you. Your engineering concerns will be either general, or specific. In either case, you already have great information sources on-line, and you can best focus in on them by googling and selecting your browse based on the overviews google gives for each link.

Rather than rely on what this Panel might select for you, I suggest you just browse the above link, change your search by different keywords that address concerns you have or discover, select for yourself the links that you find most useful, and put them in a folder on your desktop. I know you want other engineer's opinions on "reliable" and "best" resources, but the quality of sources and the relevance of information changes. Sometimes very quickly. You're better off making the assessment yourself, from your own data base.
