Here is a list of must-haves when going on a motorcycle trip:
1. Start with a list. List all possible items you need to take with you. As you list it down, think of where you are going to place it. Will it fit your saddlebag? Do you need an extra space for some of the items? Once you have the list, evaluate it. Which of the items can you live without? Finalize your list and start gathering the remaining items.
2. When packing, it is very important to organize. This is to make sure that you maximize the space. Group your supply together. This includes water and some food. You have to check your first aid kit as well and make sure that you can use everything in it. There is no use bringing empty containers or expired medicines.
3. Put all items that you do not want to get wet in a waterproof container. These are your clothes, matches, maps, and GPS system. Make sure that you place your navigating materials in a place where you can easily access it. The same goes for the rest of the things you will need while on the road.
4. If you are planning to have longer trips, you might need to bring bigger items. If you plan to camp, you will need to bring a sleeping bag or a tent. Make sure you secure it with a bungee cord. You also have to roll your clothes tightly to occupy a smaller space.
5. Check your list again. List down where you placed the items as you pack them. This way, you will know where to look when you need it. Place your list on a zip lock plastic bag so that it will not get wet and place it in your jacket pocket. Make sure that the weight is well distributed to maintain balance on your motorcycle.
Keep in mind that riding your motorcycle is not just about wearing Harley Davidson boots, cool shades, and expensive jackets. It is about bringing the necessary items for the trip. How will you go on if you do not have water? How will you know which road to take if you cannot find your navigating tools? You will have a more pleasing trip if you pack everything you need.
